President Wavel Ramkalawan accompanied by Vice-President Ahmed Afif chaired a meeting with members of the board of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) at State House, this morning.
The delegation led by the Chairperson of the Board, Mr. Gerard Lafortune presented an overview of SBC’s achievements, visions, challenges and strategic priorities. The primary objective of the meeting was to also engage with the new administration to ensure greater dialogue and continuity in the implementation of SBC’S core visions.
President Ramkalawan commended and thanked the SBC team for the work that they are doing amidst numerous challenges and criticism as they continue to persevere in their quest to improve.
Discussions held with the Head of State and the Vice-President also provided the members present with a platform to exchange views as well as propose possible solutions amidst the fast-changing media landscape in order for SBC to successfully fulfil its mandate.
Other members of the board present for the meeting were, Mr. Jean Claude Matombe, Mr. Berard Dupres, Ms. Cindy Wirtz, Ms. Marie Annette Ernesta, Mrs. Marion Gendron, Mrs. Linda Monthy, Mrs. Angele Low- Sauzier, Ms. Barbara Coopoosamy, Mr. Harry Tirant.
The SBC board was appointed following amendments to the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) Act which was approved by the National Assembly on April 11 2017.
