The new Omanis Ambassador to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Ali Abdullah Salim Al Mahruqi, presented his credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan this morning at State House. He was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Oman in Seychelles, Mr. Frank Hoareau.
The President welcomed H.E. Ambassador Ali Abdullah Salim Al Mahruqi to Seychelles and congratulated him on his accreditation.
“Your accreditation today, signifies a new step, in our countries’ commitments to further strengthen our diplomatic ties and I am looking forward to concretise different areas of cooperation for the betterment of our two countries,” said the President.
During discussions, President Ramkalawan conveyed his personal greetings to His Majesty Sultan, Haitham Bin Tarik* and underlined the good values that both countries have in common. He hopes that there will be future opportunities for further dialogues and exchanges.
On his part, H.E. Ambassador Ali Abdullah Salim Al Mahruqi reciprocated the interests and devotion to further cementing the strong bond of bilateral cooperation that exists between Oman and Seychelles.
The Head of State and the newly accredited Ambassador discussed areas of possible future cooperation geared towards further strengthening relations in tourism, the Blue Economy, fisheries, defence, finance, trade and investments as well as port cooperation.
Seychelles and Oman established diplomatic ties on 13th April 1983. Ambassador Ali Abdullah Salim Al Mahruqi is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Also present this morning was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivienne Fock-Tave and Director General Bilateral Affairs Division, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Lindy Ernesta, and First Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Wendy Isnard.
After the accreditation ceremony, H.E. Ali Abdullah Salim Al Mahruqi paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Ahmed Afif.
