President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired the first meeting to discuss the concept of the new La Digue Hospital at State House, this morning.
This meeting stems from the Presidential visit held on La Digue last month, where the President pledged his commitment to ensure the island benefits with the building of a new state of the art modern hospital at the proposed site at L’Union Estate.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-President, Mr Ahmed Afif, the Minister for Health, Mrs Peggy Vidot, the Principal Secretary for Health, Dr. Bernard Valentin, the Public Health Commissioner, Dr Jude Gedeon, the CEO of the Health Care Agency, Dr Danny Louange and the project Architect, Mr Paul Lesperance.
The President and his delegation also this morning visited the proposed site for the new Isolation Centre and the rebuilding of the new NIHSS campus to be located near the Seychelles Hospital.
The objective of the visit was to mainly view first hand the current state of the site, space available as well as its suitability based on surrounding activities in the vicinity.
All discussions are in the preliminary stages and will undergo the process of consultation with all relevant entities prior to any final decision being taken.
