The new Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E Mr. Khaled El Abyab, presented his credentials to President Danny Faure at State House this morning.
President Faure congratulated Ambassador Abyab on his accreditation and expressed his wish for the existing strong relationship between Seychelles and Egypt to continue to progress for the shared benefits of its peoples.
“In reiterating our sincere congratulations on your accreditation today as the new Ambassador of Egypt to Seychelles, Seychelles is devoted to further cementing the strong bond of friendship we have been privileged to share over the decades,” said President Faure.
Key topics of discussion between the President and Ambassador Abyab included the possible transfer of the three Seychellois nationals currently serving sentences in Egypt, greater cooperation in areas such as tourism, trade and investment as well as the potential of professional exchanges between the Chambers of Commerce of the two countries.
Following the accreditation ceremony, speaking to the local media, Ambassador Abyab reaffirmed his commitment in furthering discussions on issues raised by the President with his government, particularly in relation to the transfer of Seychellois prisoners.
Also present during the meeting was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy, Ambassador Barry Faure, and other Department of Foreign Affairs officials.
