The new High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Seychelles, H.E. Ms Rezina Ahmed, presented her credentials to President Danny Faure during an accreditation ceremony held at State House this morning.
The President congratulated High Commissioner Ahmed on her accreditation and said that it signified the commitment of Seychelles and Bangladesh to deepen their ties and elevate cooperation to greater heights.
“Your Excellency, I congratulate you on your new appointment. I hope it will continue to build on the friendship that we have between our two countries. I have no doubts that we will continue to support one another on the international arena on issues that matter for our people,” said President Faure.
Speaking to the press after her accreditation, High Commissioner Ahmed described the relations between Seychelles and Bangladesh as very friendly. She noted that both countries are expected to sign a Labour Agreement soon. High Commissioner Ahmed also said that she is committed to deepening collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, and the blue economy, among others.
Also present at State House for the accreditation, this morning was the Secretary of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, Principal Secretary Foreign Affairs, Mrs Marina Confait, and other officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Seychelles established diplomatic relations on 28 February 1983.
