President Faure appoints Jérémie Bonnelame as Special Envoy for Madagascar

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, today announced the appointment of Mr Jérémie Bonnelame as the Special Envoy for Madagascar.

Mr Bonnelame brings over 40 years of experience in public service and 20 years of experience in diplomacy, having served in various high-level Government positions. From 2007 to 2014, he was the Chairman of the Constitutional Appointments Authority (CAA). From 2005 to 2007, he was the Permanent Representative of the Seychelles to the United Nations and Ambassador to a number of countries, including the United States and Canada.

Mr Bonnelame also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1997 to 2005. Prior to that, he was Secretary-General of the Indian Ocean Commission from 1993 to 1997. He also held a number of ministerial portfolios between 1986 and 1993.
