The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, received the Secretary to Cabinet and Head of Civil Service, as well as Special Envoy of the Government of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Nayen Koomar Ballah, at State House this afternoon.
Mr Ballah delivered personal greetings from Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and presented Mr Faure with a letter concerning sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago.
President Faure welcomed Mr Ballah and his delegation to Seychelles and conveyed his best wishes and that of the people of Seychelles to the Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E. Mr Pravind Jugnauth.
Mr Ballah is also heading a delegation on an official visit to the country, holding meetings on issues of common interest to both Seychelles and Mauritius; such as the Joint Commission on Continental Shelf and ongoing discussions on air access.
Also present at the meeting at State House was the Attorney General, Mr Frank Ally, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Permanent Representative to the United Nations, H.E. Mr Jagdish Koonjul, Barrister at Law (Middle Temple), Dheerendra Kumar Dabee, Special Advisor to the Minister Mentor, Minister of Defence and Minister for Rodrigues, Mr Sateeaved Seebaluck, and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Mauritius in Seychelles, Mr Francis Chang Leng.
