President Danny Faure signed into law on 18th October 2017 three items of legislation all of which had been sent to him on 17th October for assent.

The President assented to an amendment to the Prevention of Drug Abuse & Rehabilitation Agency Act, to provide for the Campaign for Awareness, Resilience and Education (CARE) to be represented on the Board of the Agency by its Chairperson, rather than at the level of Director.

President Faure also assented to an amendment to the Seychelles Media Commission Act to provide for the appointment of the Chairperson of the Commission to be made by the President upon the recommendation of the Constitutional Appointments Authority.

The third law assented to by President Faure was the repeal of the National Drug Enforcement Agency Act with effect from 1st November 2017.
