President Danny Faure received a delegation from the SADC Electoral Advisory Council (SEAC) this morning at State House.

Members of the delegation included Professor Mpho Molomo, SEAC member from Botswana, Justice John Tendwa, SEAC member from Tanzania, and Dr Mavis Matenge, SEAC member from Botswana. 

The SEAC members are currently in Seychelles for a Post-Election Review-Goodwill Mission from 7 to 15 October 2017, in accordance with SADC Electoral Advisory Council (SEAC) Structure, Rules and Procedures, and Section 7.3 of the revised SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections.

During the meeting, the President conveyed his appreciation to the SADC Electoral Advisory Council for all the support and advice during Seychelles' 2015 and 2016 election process. He shared some of the ongoing work and electoral reforms implemented since he has taken office, and future initiatives that will consolidate efforts of bringing unity and strengthening democracy in Seychelles. 

On behalf of the delegation present, Professor Mpho Molomo thanked the President for receiving them. The Professor acknowledged that Seychelles has made much progress, particularly amidst the current political landscape in Seychelles where a healthy cohabitation exists to ensure continued development and further strengthen the country’s democracy
