The new International Monetary Fund (IMF) Advisor for Immediate Office, African Department and New Mission Chief for Seychelles, Mr Amadou Sy, and Former IMF Mission Chief for Seychelles, Mr Wendell Samuel, paid a courtesy visit to President Danny Faure at State House yesterday afternoon.
President Faure welcomed Mr Sy to Seychelles and congratulated him on becoming the New Mission Chief for Seychelles. The President also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Mission Chief for Seychelles, Mr Wendell Samuel, for his support and work accomplished during his tenure.
During the meeting, the President shared some of the economic progress and developments of Seychelles over the past ten years since the inception of the IMF Economic Reforms, and the way forward for the next phase under the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI). Seychelles is the first country under IMF to request the PCI programme from IMF. Members of the delegation are currently in Seychelles to negotiate the PCI secession programme and undertake consultation meetings with selected Ministries and financial bodies.
