Following recommendations of the Constitutional Appointments Authority, President Danny Faure has appointed Mrs Luciana Lagrenade and Mrs Veronique Bonnelame-Alcindor as the two new Members of the Electoral Commission.
The new appointments are in accordance with the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution of the Republic, which came into force on 18th April 2017, and which provides for an enlargement of the Electoral Commission from five to seven Members. The two new Members, who will be appointed for a period of seven years, will be sworn in at a ceremony to be held at State House at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday 6th July.
They will join Mr Hendrick Gappy, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, and the four other existing Members, who are Mr Bernard Elizabeth, Mr Beatty Hoarau, Mr Gerard Lafortune and Mrs Marie Therese Purvis.
