President Danny Faure has appointed a high level Prison Reform and Rehabilitation Committee whose general role will be to advise Government on the reform of the legislative framework governing prisons, on the security and management of the prisons to achieve the objectives of the prison service, and on the rehabilitation of prisoners.
The Committee will be chaired by Vice-President Vincent Meriton. Hon Patrick Pillay, Speaker of the National Assembly, has agreed to serve as Vice-Chairperson.
The other Members of the Committee are Minister Mitcy Larue, Mr Raymond St Ange, Ms Alice Vivien, Dr Gilles Nageon, Mrs Marie-Ange Denis, Bishop French Chang-Him, Mr Vic Tirant, and Ms Sheryl Vengadasamy, who will also serve as Secretary to the Committee.
