First Ambassador of South Sudan Accredited

The first South Sudanese Ambassador to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr Philip Jada Natana, presented his credentials to President Danny Faure at State House today.

Congratulating Ambassador Natana on his accreditation, the President said that this symbolic moment paves the way for a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between Seychelles and South Sudan.

During their meeting, President Faure and the new South Sudanese Ambassador discussed issues of concern, such as the threat to peace, stability and reconciliation in South Sudan. They also spoke about investment in various sectors that could enhance the relations between the two countries, such as education, investment, trade, and the empowerment of the youth in Sudan, among others.

“I look forward to working closely with the Government of Seychelles to help stabilise my country. Finally, after one year, today I have presented my credentials to Seychelles. I came here to work and see how we can benefit from the experiences of each other and I am going to continue strengthening the relations between our two countries,” said Ambassador Natana to the national media after the meeting.

Ambassador Natana is based in Pretoria, South Africa.

Also present at the ceremony this morning was the Foreign Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Claude Morel, Diplomatic Advisor to the President, Ambassador Callixte D’offay, Principal Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Michelle Murray, Chief of Presidential Protocol Affairs, Mrs Jacqueline Moustache-Belle, and Third Secretary and Desk Officer of South Sudan, Ms Aissata Dia.
