28th AU Summit- President Faure Holds Bilateral Talks in Addis

President Danny Faure is heading the Seychelles delegation in a series of bilateral talks. The talks are taking place in the margins of the 28th Assembly of the African Union (AU) being held at the AU headquarters in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The first bilateral was held with Namibia yesterday January 29th, between President Faure and his Namibian counterpart, President Hage Geingob. President Faure said that the time has come for the Ministry responsible for foreign affairs of the two countries to review the framework of their cooperation agreement by extending it into new areas of experience sharing. For his part, President Hage Geingob focused on broadening cooperation between the two brotherly nations.  President Geingob remarked that his country considers itself a small country like Seychelles, on account of the fact that  despite its huge territory its population base is very narrow.

The two Heads of State recalled the historical friendship that the two nations shared during their struggle for independence and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen their existing bilateral cooperation in areas of trade and investment, and share good practices in good governance and rule of law.

President Faure also extended an invitation to the Namibian President to visit Seychelles in the near future.

President Geingob’s delegation in the bilateral talks included Ambassador Lineekela Mboti, Deputy Permanent Secretary responsible for Multilateral Affairs in the Ministry of International Relations, while President Faure’s delegation included Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Marie-Louise Potter, and Seychelles Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative at the African Union, Ambassador Joseph Nourrice.
