In keeping with a long-standing tradition when the 1st of January falls on a Sunday, President Danny Faure has used his prerogative to declare Tuesday 3rd of January 2017 as a public holiday.  Such a declaration is covered by Section 5 of the Public Holiday Act, and will be published in the Official Gazette.
