President Danny Faure received former Vice-President Joseph Belmont and his spouse Mrs. Christianne Belmont at State House this afternoon. This meeting also forms part of the President’s dialogue approach to meet previous leaders who have made an important contribution in the history of Seychelles.
The President expressed his gratitude for meeting once again with former Vice President Belmont and highlighted the points during their discussion.
“I was very happy to meet with former Vice-President Belmont. He has worked with me for many years and I have learnt a lot from him and we shared issues of national interests. Vice President Belmont affirmed that he will continue to give his support in our community and in Seychelles in general on the issue of national unity and peace which are very important for the future growth of our democracy,” said President Faure, following the meeting.
Former Vice-President Belmont congratulated President Faure and expressed his appreciation for having been invited to share his experience with the new president, particularly for areas relating to national unity and peace.
Vice-President Joseph Belmont was in office from 16th April 2004 until his retirement on 30th June 2010.
