The outgoing Nigerian High Commissioner to Seychelles, H.E. Mr.  Solomon Akintola Oyateru paid a farewell call on President James Michel at State House this morning following a tenure of three years. He was accompanied by the Nigerian High Commission's Senior Counsellor, Mr. Frank Azuike.

President James Michel commended Mr. Oyateru for all the work he has done to promote more collaboration and to consolidate the friendly ties between Seychelles and Nigeria during his mandate.

The President and the High Commissioner reviewed the progress made in the various aspects of bilateral areas between Nigeria and Seychelles. They also spoke on the prospects of cooperation in areas of mutual interests in the future, such as in trade and investment, the Blue Economy, tourism among other areas.

Speaking to the local press after the meeting, High Commissioner Oyateru said that he had thanked the President for the facilitation of his mission here in Seychelles and that he thanked President Michel for Seychelles’ continued support to his country at the different international forums such as the United Nations and African Union.

“It has been quite exciting and very fruitful. I think I’ve been able to build on what my predecessor left me and our engagement has become more active and deeper and my successor will be able to build on this. So I would say in the level of interactions has actually improved,” said High Commissioner Oyateru.

Also present in the meeting were the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maurice Loustau Lalanne , the President’s Diplomatic Adviser, Ambassador Callixte d’Offay and the Chief Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Ms. Srdjana Janosevic.

Mr. Oyateru presented his credentials on 03rd July 2012, and was based in the Nairobi.
