The new ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Johan Borgstam, presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House this morning. 

The President and Ambassador Borgstam discussed areas of cooperation that exist between the two countries, particularly in anti-piracy operations, and Sweden's continued engagement in maritime security through EU NAVFOR Atalanta and EUCAP Nestor.

After the accreditation ceremony, Ambassador Borgstam described the relations between Sweden and Seychelles as 'excellent.' He also spoke about possible cooperation between the Kingdom Sweden and Seychelles in the renewable energy sector, as well as various regional issues of common interest.  

Mr. Borgstam added that tourism is another area where Sweden and Seychelles can work together.

“I will not only be returning to Nairobi as the Swedish ambassador to Seychelles but also as the Seychelles Tourism ambassador to Sweden. I will personally do my level best to encourage more Swedish to come to Seychelles not only as tourist but also to develop business and cooperation in joint interests,” he said.

The Swedish ambassador is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
