Progress on the implementation of projects showcased in the Seychelles2020 Vision expo in March 2011 was discussed yesterday at State House.
Members of the Seychelles2020 Presidential Commission, initially known as the National Project Monitoring Unit, briefed President James Michel on the timeline and detailed plans for the Ile Soleil and Ile Aurore reclaimed islands in particular, as both projects are expected to start this year.
After the technical studies, the subdivision and demarcation of plots of land were made in October 2011. An environment study was done in November the same year.
Commission members outlined the plans to have 100% private financing of the housing and commercial projects.
Infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity networks, and sewerage, would be undertaken by a public limited company that is to be set up shortly by the government.
The Seychelles Investment Board (SIB) is planning to set up its Seychelles2020 sales office in the national library building, Esplanade, by March this year.
President Michel was also updated on other projects such as solar street lighting on La Digue, infrastructure on Praslin and Victoria waterfront redevelopment on Mahe.
