The President, Mr James Alix Michel, has said he welcomes all forms of dialogue and consultations which are in the interest of the country and wellbeing of the Seychellois people.
Speaking on television last night in the Meeting the President (En Moman Avek Prezidan) broadcast, Mr Michel also said he was in favour of the recent appeal for consultations on issues of national interest made by the new leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Mr David Pierre, who is also the leader of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM).
The President noted that consultations for him are very important because involving people in their country's development process, getting their views and ideas on issues of national interest are essential for the country's continued progress and wellbeing.
"This is why dialogue and consultations have always formed part of the way I work. Since becoming President, I have ensured that I consult with people in the districts, from different organisations and institutions," said Mr Michel.
The President initiated dialogue with former leader of opposition Wavel Ramkalawan.
He has expressed happiness at Mr Pierre's willingness to renew the dialogue.
"I believe that by working with a constructive opposition, we can achieve a lot more for our country and our people," he said.
Commenting on the ongoing electoral reform process which some political parties are ignoring, President Michel warned that no individual, political party or movement can take hostage a country and its people.
According to the President, the electoral reform is a national process whereby not only political parties but all the people can take part.   Â
"It is the duty and responsibility of everyone who wants to take part to do so and ensure that our country gets good electoral laws which will later be accepted by the people when they are voted in the assembly," added, the President.
