India reassures Seychelles in piracy fight

August 25, 2010 -- India will continue helping Seychelles and other Indian Ocean countries combat piracy in the region.

During a meeting yesterday at State House, Rear Admiral R.K. Pattanaik of the Indian Navy reassured President James Michel of his  country's commitment for the assistance.

Rear Admiral R.K. Pattanaik was here in command of the INS Mysore and INS Tabar. The two Indian navy ships arrived in Port Victoria on Saturday and left yesterday morning for the eastern African coast.

Officers and sailors from the two ships also met counterparts from the Seychelles Coast Guard, joining in training activities, giving technical help and socializing.
