August 9, 2010 -- Seychelles has offered its congratulations to President Mwai Kibaki on last week's referendum on Kenya's new constitution.

President James Michel said in his message to President Kibaki: "On behalf of the government and people of Seychelles I would also like to commend the Kenyan government and security forces on their professional and exemplary conduct and leadership during this tense campaign.

"Kenya's bold embrace of political reform is a shining example for all of Africa and the world, and one which we are proud to witness.

"We wish to express, to you and the people of Kenya, our continued friendship and solidarity during these times of national transformation," added President Michel in the message.
