Message from President Danny Faure for Christmas 2018
24 December 2018 |
Dear Seychellois brothers and sisters,
It is with affection and love that I share a message for Christmas this year.
Christmas is a special time for us all, where we come together with family and friends, and celebrate values such as love, kindness and gratitude. We come together with Seychellois and Christians around the world, to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and live those values that he taught us.
Jesus Christ was born to make the ultimate sacrifice for humanity. He brought a universal message for everyone. Guided by his faith and kindness, he exemplified compassion and service to others. He spoke truthfully but with love. He gave love, but without discrimination. He did not discriminate, and forgave all who crossed his path. He showed us how to choose the right path. For all of us as Seychellois, regardless of our faith, those are values that can help us to be better parents, better friends, better neighbours, and better citizens.
These are the values that should form part of our moral compass during our time on this earth.
This Christmas, let us give thanks for our many blessings – for the values we have cultivated, for the lives we have touched, and the progress we have made. Let us celebrate our achievements, individual, of those close to us, and of our country. Let us take a moment to appreciate the goodness, kindness and peace that we see practised in our communities every day, and which is at the centre of this blessed country, Seychelles.
During the festivities, let us also take a moment to remember those that are suffering this Christmas – the families that have lost a loved one, those that are sick, and those who are away from their families – let us keep them in our thoughts and do what we can to make this Christmas better for them.
May God continue to bless Seychelles.
From my family to yours, we wish all Seychellois a Merry Christmas, full of peace and love.
