The President of the Republic of Seychelles, HE. Wavel Ramkalawan accepted a donation of USD20, 000 from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China which was presented by the Chinese Ambassador, Mrs Guo Wei at State House, this afternoon.
A second donation also came from the Seychelles-China Trade and Business Promotion Association presented by the Chairman of the Association Mr Zhou Jin Hua at the sum of 1 Million Seychelles Rupees also towards the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
On behalf of Government and the people of Seychelles, the President expressed his profound appreciation to the Embassy and the Association for their generous donations.
“We are deeply touched by your generosity and support to the country during this time, rest assured your contributions will be of great assistance to our National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign. I am very happy to see everyone responding and joining together in solidarity for the betterment of Seychelles and your gesture today is a testament that the bonds of friendship that exists between our two nations remains strong,” said President Ramkalawan.
The meeting was also an opportunity for the President to brief the Chinese delegation on progress of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign as well as prospects of future collaborations between Seychelles and China.
Speaking to the Press after the meeting, Ambassador Wei said the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China is honoured to offer their support to the country during this time of need and that the true bonds of friendship and cooperation that exist has forms a solid foundation for bilateral relations both good and tough times. She reiterated the commitment of her Government for the country and the people of Seychelles.
