President Danny Faure chaired a meeting with the Law Enforcement Committee and other key command chain stakeholders at State House this morning.
The regular meetings provide the President with an overview of the key operations in play during the restriction of movement order, all in line with keeping the public safe from the coronavirus pandemic. Members provided updates of the respective areas under their purview and raised key deficiencies requiring immediate intervention.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Romano Songor, stressed that physical distancing is a core measure that requires strengthening, particularly at essential service providers such as supermarkets and banks where large crowds continue to gather. Follow-up discussions will be held today to determine how best to ensure physical distancing measures are implemented and followed.
He urged members of the public to follow the guidance issued by authorities to keep themselves, their families and the country safe.
The Law Enforcement Committee and key command chain stakeholders meet every two days with the President. They will continue to work together to mitigate the spread of coronavirus in the community and intensify efforts to keep the population safe.
