The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Seychelles, H.E. Ms. Ingunn Klepsvik, has paid a farewell call on President James Michel at State House this morning following a four year tenure in Seychelles.

President James Michel thanked Ambassador Klepsvik for her support and great contribution in expanding relations between Seychelles and Norway, notably through her engagements in the fight against piracy and in the vulnerability of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The President and Ambassador Klepsvik reviewed various cooperation that is of interest for both Seychelles and Norway.

Speaking to the press after her meeting with the President, Ambassador Klepsvik said that the relationship between Seychelles and Norway has strengthened during the last four years and that in general there has been a lot of exchange visits and discussions of common interest. She highlighted that during the time that Norway had the command of the NATO Force for half a year they used the opportunity to do a lot of training together with the Seychellois Coast Guard.

"I think the initiative that your President has taken when it comes to promoting the Blue Economy and the small islands issues when it comes to climate change and all the dangers that it represents, has also been something that Norway supported strongly and I’m sure that since Norway has always been a strong supporter of climate change measurements, there will be so much room for cooperation in the future,” said the Norwegian Ambassador.
